King Power Stadium is the venue for the WSL clash, where the majority of the Foxes’ league fixtures will be played throughout 2021/22 – City’s maiden campaign in the top-flight.

Here’s everything you need to know about the fixture…

Natasha Flint celebrates scoring City's first-ever WSL goal with her team-mates.

LCFC Women are aiming to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last Saturday. The Foxes made the breakthrough at Banks’s Stadium via Natasha Flint’s first half strike – a landmark maiden WSL goal for the Club – but the home side hit back to claim all three points.

Playing on Filbert Way for the first time since lifting the FA Women’s Championship trophy in May, Sunday’s fixture is sure to be an occasion to remember with supporters also set to be present in the stands.

United's new head coach enjoyed a successful start to his tenure, beating Reading at Leigh Sports Village.

Marc Skinner was appointed as Manchester United Women’s new head coach in July 2021, following the departure of Casey Stoney after three years at the helm.

The 38-year-old arrived following a two-year spell in the USA managing National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Orlando Pride.

Skinner possesses previous Barclays FA Women’s Super League experience, too, having held the managerial post at Birmingham City from 2016 to 2019.

After successive four-place finishes in United’s first two WSL campaigns, Skinner will be tasked with breaking into the top three and reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in the Club’s history.

Ones to watch

Ella Toone, 22, created both of United's goals in their victory over Reading.

Ella Toone registered two assists in Manchester United’s 2-0 home victory over Reading on the opening night of the new WSL season. The England international forward will be eyeing a goal of her own when United arrive on Filbert Way after scoring nine times in the league last campaign - and 10 across all competitions – to lead the Red Devils’ scoring charts.

Elsewhere, several new arrivals have landed in Manchester, including Norwegian midfielder Vilde Bøe Risa, who has previously plied her trade in Scandinavia with Arna-Bjørnar, Göteborg FC and Sandviken.

Experienced defender Hannah Blundell joined from Chelsea, while ex-Bristol City goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley and former West Ham United forward Martha Thomas completed United’s summer incomings.
