Leicester City's Under-18s carried their impressive league form into the Premier League Cup on Friday with a 3-1 success over Newcastle United.

Following consecutive victories over Chelsea and Southampton, the young Foxes, who currently sit in fifth place in the U18 Premier League South standings, welcomed the Magpies to LCFC Training Ground on Friday afternoon to commence their Premier League Cup group stage campaign.

Abdullah Javid and Brandon Cover found the net for City's youngsters after an even first half in Seagrave, although Michael Ndiweni was able to get one back and cut the arrears for the visitors. As Newcastle pushed forward for an equaliser, Leicester broke and Jack Butterfill completed the scoring late on.

The result leaves City second in Group A, behind Nottingham Forest on goal difference after their impressive 4-0 win over Southampton. On Friday, the young Foxes will look to make it two wins from two in the PL Cup against the Saints at the south coast club's Staplewood Training Ground (1:30pm kick-off).

City's Under-18s then return to league action on Saturday 23 October against second-placed Arsenal in Seagrave (11:30am kick-off).
