Leicester City’s Under-18s came from behind and were then twice pegged back by West Bromwich Albion in U18 Premier League South on Saturday afternoon.

Flying high in their division after four-straight league wins, the young Foxes were part of a breathless encounter with their Midlands counterparts prior to the international break.

It took all of three minutes for the hosts to open the scoring as Reyes Cleary found the net, however Jack Butterfill replied just six minutes later to get City back on level terms.

Having set up Butterfill for the equaliser, Chris Popov popped up with a goal of his own midway through the first half, assisted by Thomas Wilson-Brown, as the visiting side took the lead for the first time in the game.

However, such was the frenetic nature of the clash at West Brom’s training ground, the young Baggies restored parity themselves through another Cleary effort.

With four goals shared in the opening 45 minutes, Leicester looked to start the second period on the front foot, and did exactly that when skipper Joe Wormleighton notched on 66 minutes – Popov again the provider.

But for the second time in the match, West Brom recovered from a one-goal deficit as a Layton Love penalty saw both sides claim a point from the clash.

Although wins for Chelsea and Southampton means Leicester now sit third in the U18 Premier League South, they are all level on 19 points after nine matches.

Following the international break, the young Foxes enjoy back-to-back home games. First is a league encounter with Norwich City at Seagrave on Saturday 20 November (12:30pm kick-off), before Nottingham Forest visit seven days later in the Premier League U18 Cup (12pm kick-off).
