Winger Marc Albrighton felt Leicester City did not offer enough while in possession of the ball during Saturday’s 3-0 defeat by Chelsea at King Power Stadium.

The Premier League’s leaders collected all three points in the lunchtime kick-off after goals from Antonio Rüdiger, N’Golo Kanté and Christian Pulisic sealed the points for the visiting side.

Albrighton was encouraged by City’s display after the interval, but knows there are improvements to make in the coming weeks.

We’ve got a game on Thursday night and football’s like that. It’s just a matter of regrouping and getting back to it.

“We’d have liked to have put up more of a fight,” said Albrighton. “We started the second half well, we came out and tried to impact the game. The scoreline at 2-0 is a tricky scoreline. If you get the next goal, then you can go on and mount a challenge to get something out of the game.

“Ultimately, you concede the next goal, and it’s more or less game over. They got it on this occasion, and it knocked the stuffing out of us.

“We didn’t do enough to get into good goalscoring positions. We didn’t do enough with the ball, we know that the chances we had were long-range efforts and it’s always difficult to score from them areas. We’ve got to get into more clinical positions and we’ll hopefully score more goals that way.”

For Albrighton, Thursday’s UEFA Europa League clash with Legia Warsaw on Filbert Way is an opportunity to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointment.

He said of manager Brendan Rodgers’ post-match message: “He just wants to reflect on the game. We as players know exactly what we’ve not done right today, and we as players will reflect on that as well.
