The No.10 was in excellent form again this week, first opening the scoring before setting up Jamie Vardy for his two goals on Filbert Way.
Back-to-back strikes from the midfielder have contributed to two victories in four days, and Sunday’s success came during a snowy blizzard that Maddison and his team-mates had to battle through.
“It was very different with the conditions,” he said. “I don’t remember playing in a game like that with heavy snow in your face. Every time we attacked, it was in your mouth and your eyes, but it was in your vision and you couldn’t see more than 15 or 20 yards.
“Then, it’s about game management and seeing the game out, especially when you’re already in front. The gaffer said about playing in their half and not taking too many risks at the back. Eventually, that’s what we conceded their second goal from.
“We stuck the game out in difficult conditions and come away with the three points, especially with the conditions being so tough.”
Maddison’s goal was a display of instinct as he waited for Jonny Evans’ long pass to drop over the head of William Ekong before taking a touch and firing past Daniel Bachmann in the Watford net.
He said: “The ball went dead for a free-kick, and I just thought if I make a little run in behind to try and catch them, Jonny actually under hit it a little bit but the defender didn’t actually know I was there.
“I don’t know if he got a shout, but my eyes lit up when he left it and then it was just about pure technique and being cool and getting a good contact.
“It's the stuff a player like me over the years has practiced so much, it wasn’t about anything else – it wasn’t about timing, it wasn’t about the run. I had so much time to focus purely on the finish.”
His brace of assists for Vardy, who took his Premier League tally to nine for the season, saw him lift a brilliant pass into the striker for his first goal, before a pin-point corner located the No.9 just before half-time.
“Me and Jamie have always had a good wavelength but at the end of the day, you talk about stats and assist and goals, you always need your striker to finish it off for you, otherwise it just goes down as nothing,” he added.
“It was a brilliant finish. It was a good pass, I know he’s ready for my passes like that, little disguised passes. Sometimes they don’t always work, but he was ready and he was so fast, he gets there.
“Take nothing away from the finish. It was a good pass, but I think he had a better finish to get me the assist. That’s Jamie, isn’t it.”
