Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel ranked seventh in the 2021 Yashin Trophy at the France Football Awards on Monday night.

On a night where a number of coveted trophies were handed out, including the Ballon d'Or, the Dane was recognised for his excellent efforts across a calendar year.

During that period, he won the Emirates FA Cup and FA Community Shield and helped the Foxes to a second-straight fifth place finish in the Premier League.

At international level, meanwhile, he was integral in Denmark’s run to the semi-finals of the 2020 UEFA European Championships, as well as their incredible group campaign en route to qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Named after legendary goalkeeper Lev Yashin, the Yashin Trophy is awarded annually to highlight some of the best shot-stoppers in the game, with Schmeichel finishing seventh this year.

Monday’s awards ceremony was held at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, where Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma won the prestigious prize.
