Suengchitthawon Claims Silverware With Thailand

Leicester City youngster Thanawat Suengchitthawon helped Thailand win the AFF Suzuki Cup with a 6-2 aggregate success over Indonesia in the final on New Year’s Day.

Wednesday’s 4-0 victory at the National Stadium in Singapore, courtesy of a brace from Chanathip Songkrasin and goals from Supachok Sarachat and Bordin Phala, saw Suengchitthawon’s nation firmly in control ahead of Saturday’s second leg.

Unused from the bench in the first match, Suengchitthawon played 45 minutes in the 2-2 draw as Thailand claimed their sixth AFF Suzuki Cup, with Adisak Kraisorn and Sarach Yooyen on the scoresheet for Alexandré Pölking’s men.

The young midfielder played 45 minutes in the second leg of the final on New Year's Day.

Creative midfielder Suengchitthawon now has nine senior caps for Thailand, with his first coming in May 2021 against Tajikistan.

En route to winning the AFF Suzuki Cup, he featured in victories over East Timor, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam, as well as the draw with Indonesia.
