Leicester City’s heritage collection continues to grow with the addition of pennants, shirts and gifts from matches against European opposition.

The match against Danish side Randers at Leicester City Stadium on 17 February, 2022 was the Club’s first fixture in the inaugural season of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The occasion was the first leg of the play-off tie for a place in the Round of 16 of the competition.

City wore the UEFA Europa Conference League sleeve patch for the first time in the clash.

For the first time, the Leicester City players wore the UEFA Europa Conference League logo on their right sleeve. For the match, the Randers players wore their away strip of black shorts and white shirts – one of which, signed by the Randers players, is illustrated here.

An away shirt signed by the Randers squad was presented to the Club after the first leg tie.

A week later, the Foxes (who won the home leg 4-1 with goals from Wilfred Ndidi, Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall), played the return leg at Randers Stadium.

The pennants exchanged at kick-off have been added to the Club’s store of pennants, which now numbers well over 100, collected over the decades. The gift to the Club received from the Danish side was a glass vase, engraved with details of the competing clubs, together with the date of the tie and its venue.

Leicester City’s 3-1 victory in Denmark, followed by the defeat of Rennes in the next round, were the steps on the way to a quarter-final tie against PSV Eindhoven. The Foxes overcame their illustrious Dutch opponents before a slender two-legged defeat by AS Roma in the semi-finals.
