Thomas Named In Young Lions Squad

Leicester City Academy graduate Luke Thomas has been selected for the England Under-21s squad ahead of a busy June schedule.

The 20-year-old left-back, an Emirates FA Cup and FA Community Shield winner at the Club, has so far earned six caps for the Young Lions. Syston-based Thomas joined Leicester City in 2008 and has since made 61 appearances for the Foxes domestically and in European competition.

He'll link up with Lee Carsley's Under-21s next month as they contest four 2023 UEFA U21 European Championships qualifiers. England's youngsters, currently second in Group G of qualifying, take on leaders Czech Republic at Stadium Strelecky Ostrov on Friday 3 June (5pm kick-off).

They currently trail Czech Republic by three points. The Young Lions then host Albania at Chesterfield's Technique Stadium on Tuesday 7 June (7:45pm kick-off), before heading to Kosovo on Friday 10 June (7pm kick-off).

England's June schedule ends with a clash with Slovenia at John Smith's Stadium in Huddersfield on Monday 13 June (7.45pm kick-off).
