The Foxes, who have reached at least the quarter-finals in four of the last five seasons, will travel to Edgeley Park on Tuesday 23 August (7:45pm kick-off).
Joining City in the second round stage will be the other 12 Premier League clubs not in European competitions and all Football League sides to emerge through the first round of the draw.
The Carabao Cup remains regionalised in the early rounds with the draw split into a southern and northern section until the third round.
