Maddison, who has scored two goals in City's opening three Premier League matches, 'felt a twinge' during training this week. The Foxes head to Stamford Bridge on Saturday to tackle Thomas Tuchel's Blues after overcoming Stockport County in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

"We’re preparing well for the game and looking forward to it," Rodgers told the media on Thursday. "The squad at this moment is looking forward to the game and we have another day to go before we finalise our plan.

"We’ve got an issue around James Maddison. We’ll see how that is tomorrow (Friday). Hopefully he’ll be okay but that would be the only doubt. He just a felt a twinge yesterday when he was training so we’ll have to see what that looks like tomorrow."

Elsewhere, full-back Ryan Bertrand, who has been absent since last December, remains out with a knee injury.

"There’s no timeline," the Foxes manager explained. "He’s awaiting an operation so there's no time on that at the moment."
