Leicester City’s Under-18s were beaten 1-0 by Norwich City Under-18s in their U18 Premier League Cup opener on Saturday.

A week on from facing the Canaries in U18 Premier League South, the young Foxes were back at Lotus Training Centre to begin their 2022/23 PL Cup campaign.

Norwich were presented with a golden opportunity to make it 1-0, but Kenneth Aboh missed a penalty on 32 minutes and the visitors then took the lead in first-half stoppage time, via Amani Richards’ own penalty.

However, it was an advantage that lasted just four second-half minutes, as Norwich levelled via the spot, with Alex Matos the player stepping up this time and converting.

Just after the hour mark, Finley Welch’s finish put the home side ahead for the first time, and they were able to hold on to move into second place in the early Group E standings.

Leicester have Manchester City Under-18s and Blackburn Rovers Under-18s still to play in the tournament, while next up in the league it’s a home fixture against Fulham at LCFC Training Ground on Saturday 17 September (12pm BST kick-off).
