Patson Daka says Leicester City must now build on Monday's 4-0 triumph over Nottingham Forest and ensure it becomes the first act of a sustained period of positive Premier League form.

- Leicester City beat Nottingham Forest 4-0 at King Power Stadium on Monday
- James Maddison (2), Harvey Barnes and Patson Daka were among the goals on Filbert Way
- Zambia star Daka was especially pleased to give the Blue Army what they needed
- It ended a six-game losing streak for the Foxes and put rivals Forest bottom of the league

Daka's stylish flick capped off a memorable occasion at King Power Stadium following James Maddison's fine brace and a tidy finish from Harvey Barnes. It all contributed to Leicester's first Premier League win of the new season, lifting Brendan Rodgers' men off the foot of the table in the process.

"We know this is just the first step to what we want to achieve," Daka told LCFC TV. "It was an amazing night, especially for the fans. We really wanted to do it for them. We knew how it important it was. It was more than just a game tonight, it was about the city and the feeling of fans, having that victory tonight.

"We want to continue what we have done tonight. We know how important these few weeks will be for us. We just have to continue working hard every day."

Maddison's opener, a deflected strike from range, was quickly followed by a curling hit from Barnes. Quickly racing into a two-goal lead, which would again be added to before the break, gave City confidence, says Daka. The Zambia international also heaped praise on Maddison - Leicester's in-form No.10.

"[Going 2-0 up early on] set the tone for the game," he explained. "We had a great start and then getting the goal made it even more amazing. Then, in a split second, we got another goal and that gave us the feeling of setting the tempo of the game.

"It’s amazing to play with everyone here at the Club, every player carries a special, individual brilliance, which they bring to the team. James Maddison is one of them. He is an exceptional player. We know how talented he is. It’s a good feeling to play alongside him.

"At any given point, he’ll surprise you with the ball, so you have to be ready every time!"

It was indeed Maddison who provided the assist for Daka's goal, City's fourth of the night. The ball was fizzed into the area low and the former RB Salzburg man was alert to it, flicking the ball into Dean Henderson's bottom corner in front of a raucous Kop on Filbert Way.

"I had to make a decision in a split second!" Daka added. "The weight of the pass, the power he put behind the pass, I think just helped me to direct the ball to where I wanted it to be. I just made sure that it was at least on target, that was my main aim, because I had to make a decision in a split second.

"Most of my goals, I’ve scored them here at King Power Stadium. The atmosphere is always amazing and, tonight, it was even extra special against this opponent. We had a positive feeling that tonight was going to be the first step to getting our first victory.

"Everyone knew from the very beginning, after we regrouped from the international break, what we wanted to do tonight. I think, during the training sessions, we’ve been working towards what we have done here tonight. Everything that has happened, we have worked on it on the training ground."
