Goalkeeper Dillon Addai spoke of the team’s frustrations to be knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by Sheffield Wednesday but explains how Leicester City’s Under-18s must continue to focus on the development aspect of their game.

- Leicester City’s Under-18s defeated at Hillsborugh in FA Youth Cup on Friday
- First half goals from Logan Briggs and Reece Evans were cancelled out by Sheffield Wednesday
- Dillon Addai played a full 90 minutes in the fourth round tie
- The ‘keeper says it was demoralising to lose in that nature

With a 2-1 lead at the break, goalkeeper Addai was confident his side would be able to see out the game, however two goals in under 10 minutes from Wednesday forced the Foxes to return home without a spot in the next round.

Having played an integral part of the Under-18s season so far, Addai spoke to LCFC.com post-match on Friday night to share his thoughts on the loss to the Owls at Hillsborough.

“Obviously it’s very disappointing to lose,” the ‘keeper stated. “Every team wants to do well but it gets to the point where only one team can go on, and unfortunately we won’t.

“Going in at half-time, I was feeling confident and thought the team had a good feel for what was required to get a positive result, but it’s about making sure we keep that lead. Going in at full-time, everyone was quite demoralised.

Despite the loss, Addai showed his maturity, explaining how his teammates and himself must learn to take positives from each match, regardless of the result.

“It was an amazing experience to play at Hillsborough Stadium,” he explained. “I loved every second of it. It was unreal to play at a historic ground like this.

“Our focus is to develop as a team, we’re still a young side and I feel like our belief must be to build on this defeat, so that we can grow together as a team, and look to improve in the second half of the season.”
