Leicester City must demand a better collective performance from themselves in Saturday evening's crunch clash with Southampton, according to Wout Faes.

- Southampton are the hosts for Leicester City’s next Premier League clash
- Wout Faes looked ahead to Saturday’s meeting at St. Mary’s Stadium (5:30pm GMT)
- The defender accepted that recent displays have not been up to standard
- City lost out to Arsenal and Man Utd in their last two league fixtures

Looking back across February, which saw the Foxes collect six points from a possible 12, the centre-back admitted it was not the ending to the month that they had hoped for, following up wins over Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur with defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal.

“I think we had a great start to the month, which was very pleasing,” he commented, speaking to LCFC TV in the lead up to Leicester heading down to the south coast this weekend. “The games we played were very good and also we obviously knew we had some difficult games coming up.

“But in these games, it’s all about details and in the end they turned out badly for us. After Arsenal, we can be unsatisfied about the month, but we have to get back to winning. You always remember the last game that you played in, so for the moment it’s not that positive, so we have to get back to winning ways.”

Now 14th in the Premier League standings, the defender believes City can still take confidence from aspects of recent displays but must raise their game beyond the level that saw the Foxes knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday evening.

The defender continued: “We played a good first half (against Man Utd). They were much better than us after that. But maybe we can say that if we scored some of the chances, it may have been a different game.

“As with Arsenal, we knew they were going to come to our place and have the ball because with the ball they are one of the best teams in the world for the moment. It’s not that they played us from one side to the other, they are all about points and for the moment we haven’t taken the points.”

I think everybody knows how important the game is if you look at the table. It’s a six-point game almost.

The trip to St. Mary’s Stadium represents another opportunity for Brendan Rodgers’ side to distance themselves from the bottom three, with the Saints themselves embroiled in a battle at the foot of the table, sitting three points from safety. Focus, though, is very much on the Foxes’ own capabilities and ambitions.

“I think everybody knows how important the game is if you look at the table,” the Belgian added. “It’s a six-point game almost. We have to go there and play our football and hopefully get a good result. If we stick together, then we can compete with any team. The thing is, this weekend is a very important game where we need to take three points.”
