LCFC Radio commentator Gerry Taggart heaped praise on Leicester City’s resilience after they dug deep to collect a on Saturday.

With the Baggies pushing for an equaliser, the Foxes held on to protect Jamie Vardy’s 43rd minute opener and ran out victorious for the 11th time this season to significantly aid their Premier League survival bid. Ex-City defender Taggart was also impressed by their display at the back.

“It was a good, solid performance against a really physical team,” Taggart said at The Hawthorns. “They took the opportunity when it came to them. There wasn’t much in the game and there wasn’t a lot between both teams to be honest. In the end, a Salomón Rondón mistake was the difference.”

Vardy’s strike, on the counter after Rondón gave away possession on the half-way point, was typical of the 30-year-old striker. Vardy now has 64 goals to his name for the Club since joining from Fleetwood Town back in 2012 and Taggart was keen to highlight his unrelenting efforts up front at full-time.

He added: “Jamie was clinical in his finishing and Shinji Okazaki was fantastic with his vision. In the second half, West Brom huffed and puffed and they improved. But in the end, Leicester stood strong. Defensively, it was another fine display from the back and they deserved to win the match.”
