Both Leicester City and Chelsea supporters at King Power Stadium used their smartphone to produce an eye-catching show of support to the legendary Alan Birchenall on Saturday.

Our much-loved Club Ambassador, who played for both teams during his career, is currently recovering in hospital after suffering a heart attack on Thursday evening and has been inundated with messages of support.

On social media, Leicester City supporters looking for a way to show their love and appreciation of ‘The Birch’ decided to plan a 10th-minute tribute that saw them shine the torches on their smartphones – a gesture that many of the visiting Chelsea fans supported too.

Birch, who wore the no.10 shirt during his career, and has rarely missed a home game during his 46-year association with Leicester City, watched the match on TV as he continues along his road to recovery.
