Simran Thandi and Harrison Myring scored as the Leicester City Under-18s were held to a 2-2 draw by Aston Villa at the Bodymoor Heath training ground on Saturday afternoon.

Following a spirited 1-0 defeat to  on Wednesday evening, the young Foxes travelled to their Midlands neighbours knowing it was imperative to pick up a decent result.

Trevor Peake’s side climbed off the bottom of the Premier League U18 South standings, with this draw putting them above Swansea City on goal difference, ahead of matches against Norwich City and Southampton.

Right-back Thandi gave City the lead on the half-hour mark by capping off a sweeping move and firing home from close-range before David Hughes’ hosts levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time through Jordan Cox.

But Leicester, skippered by Cal Templeton, regained their advantage with just 12 minutes remaining in the second period with Myring on hand to convert another point-blank effort beyond Villa goalkeeper Emmanuel Idem.

Cox was there again, however, to pick his spot from 25 yards and secure a share of the spoils for the hosts in the 83rd minute to deny the Foxes a crucial three points on the road in Birmingham.
