Harvey Barnes described his first-ever senior appearance for Leicester City as a huge achievement after coming on as a substitute against FC Porto on Wednesday evening.
With the Club since the age of nine, Barnes has impressed for both the Under-19s and Under-23s this term having scored three goals in his last three Premier League 2 appearances for the latter.
The attacking midfielder came on in place of Danny Drinkwater with 14 minutes to play during City’s final UEFA Champions League group fixture – a moment that Barnes isn’t likely to forget any time soon.
Discussing his debut, Barnes said: “It wasn’t the result that we were looking for, but personally it’s a big achievement for me. It’s such a big occasion, so I’m over the moon with it.
“I was told on Monday morning – Shakey (Craig Shakespeare) told me that I’d be travelling with the first team and you’ll be in the squad.
“I wasn’t expecting to come on, so all of a sudden I got an adrenaline rush and that got me up for it straight away.
“It was brilliant. If you do well in training and people notice, then you get your chances. I just want to keep on progressing and improving on a personal level.”
