Leicester City Under-18s suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham United at Belvoir Drive on Saturday afternoon.

Trevor Peake’s young Foxes went into the clash having narrowly lost to Reading a week earlier but they were unfortunate not to get back to winning ways against an impressive Hammers side at the weekend.

The visitors were two-goals ahead inside the opening 45 minutes courtesy of Joe Powell’s free-kick and a Korrey Henry penalty.

Peake, however, will be optimistic ahead of the FA Youth Cup clash against Leyton Orient at King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.

City enjoyed periods of sustained pressure at Belvoir Drive on Saturday but almost fell behind early on when Alfie Lewis’s free-kick was put over the bar by Jake Eggleton.

United broke the deadlock after 14 minutes after they were awarded a free-kick in a threatening location.

Powell stepped up and duly converted before Jahmal Hector-Ingram was felled in the area allowing Henry to slot it in from 12 yards.
