Leicester City captain Wes Morgan has lauded his team-mates after they clawed back a two-goal deficit to rescue a valuable point away at Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes were reduced to 10 men at the bet365 Stadium with Jamie Vardy seeing red in the first half before Bojan Krkić and Joe Allen sent the hosts racing into a 2-0 lead ahead of the interval.

But City dug deep after the break to salvage a 2-2 draw with Leonardo Ulloa and Daniel Amartey stepping up to complete a remarkable comeback for the Premier League champions.

Speaking after the match, Morgan said: “It showed great team spirit and character, the boys didn't give up. We felt if we got one goal we could get a second and that was the case and the boys should be proud of themselves.

“There was nothing we could do about that [Vardy's sending off] so we just had to keep going and we felt like we deserved something and we got something.”

Despite finding themselves in a daunting predicament at half-time, Morgan says the squad remained positive about their chances as they reflected on the opening 45 minutes in the changing room.

“A lot of positives were said at half-time,” he continued. “We'd gone in 2-0 down but we felt like we shouldn't have and the boys wanted to remain positive.

“Vardy was in there and he said his bits and pieces and encouraged the boys and told them to keep going and that we could get something out of this game.

“We felt that one goal could change it and that is how it was. I thought it was just a positive performance. We showed a lot of spirit and heart and we need to show more of that going forward.”
