Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs offered a simple explanation as to why he chose to commit his future to the Club.
The former Austria international described his one-year stay at the Foxes as the best time of his career so far - a significant statement given Fuchs possesses a wealth experience at the highest level on both the club and international scene.
Now, having happily committed his future for a further three years, Fuchs is eyeing even more success at King Power Stadium.
“I’m happy,” Fuchs told LCFC TV. “I’m committed to the Club. We had a great season last season and we’ve also had success this season. Obviously the Champions League has been a great campaign for us so far.
“I feel simply committed to the Club and I’m happy here. I’ve had the best time of my career so far here. I’m the Austrian Fox – that’s what my name is – and now I stay with the English Foxes.
“Obviously the main idea first of all was to be with Leicester for three years. A lot of people know about my personal situation – that my family is living overseas – and I’d then go to the US to my family.
“I’m very happy here and very comfortable and that was simply the reason – to stay here another year and give everything to the Club and be as successful as possible.”
Fuchs believes last term’s Premier League-winning campaign was certainly unexpected, but says his team-mates can use it as a foundation as they aim to build on their historic achievement.
“It’s madness, honestly,” Fuchs reflected on the 2015/16 season. “Nobody expected what we have achieved so far and I think there is still a lot to come. We built a good foundation last season with something unexpected, but now I think we can aim for more.
“We have a great squad with great players and the Champions League campaign shows that we can compete in Europe. It’s a lot of fun playing here and it’s amazing with the fans because they always support us. Them and the Club itself simply makes me feel happy here.
“We have a great set of characters. I get along with every player really well and that helps a new player to join the squad and feel comfortable right away to be integrated into the team.
“The same was with me last season and I still feel comfortable and that’s why I spoke to the Club to maybe stay here one more year.”
