Academy Graduate Liam Moore says he is relishing life in the Leicester City first team ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Wigan Athletic at King Power Stadium.

The versatile youngster has been involved in all seven of City’s fixtures this season and has earned rave reviews for his performances in a variety of positions across the back line.

The 20-year-old, along with Jeff Schlupp and Andy King, are the latest in a long line of Academy talent to grace the first team, and Moore is bristling with pride at the prospect of representing his boyhood team once again on Saturday.

“I’m happy that I’ve been in the team,” he revealed to Foxes Player. “That’s what I wanted to do this season. I came on really early in the Middlesbrough game and I’ve played every game since so I’m chuffed.

“My performances have been okay. I think I can definitely build on them and play a lot better.

“Personally and for the team I think the international break came at the wrong time. We were finding a bit of form and had won three out of five league games which is not a bad return in the Championship.

“We’ve got to make the most of it, get our rest, which we have and then go again on Saturday.”

Moore’s performances have come alongside Club captain Wes Morgan, who was himself in action during the international break as he made his debut for Jamaica during their FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The defender was thrilled for his captain on his first two caps against Panama and Costa Rica, and is looking forward to linking up with him once again in whatever position he is aksed to play in.

Moore said: “It speaks volumes of Wes. He can now say he has played international football in World Cup qualifiers and it is good for him.

“He can look back on it at the end of his career and say that he’s done it. The next thing for him is playing in the Premier League and hopefully that’s for Leicester City.

“I’ve played three different roles this season – four if you include left sided centre back and I’ve enjoyed playing as a wing back too.

“I can do those roles and the team have shown they can play in both formations (3-5-2 and 4-4-2), so it doesn’t really matter, as long as we turn up on the day and do the business.

“Wigan are a big club who only came down last season and are one of the teams in this league that you expect to do well. We need to apply ourselves right, go out there, try to get the three points and build on that.

“It’s two big games coming up [against Wigan and Blackburn] and we’re going for all six points. They are both big clubs and you expect them to do well, but we want to do well as well and pick up points.”
