A brilliant first half display helped Leicester City’s Under-18s secure a superb 3-1 victory over a tough Bolton Wanderers side at Belvoir Drive on Saturday morning.

Trevor Peake’s team, who fought back from going behind to secure a dramatic late point in a 3-3 draw with Blackburn last weekend, came flying out of the blocks against the Trotters.

Having fallen victim to early goals themselves this season, the Foxes made their mark on the game inside just the fourth minute, when Ben Chilwell struck clinically to give the home side an early lead.

With the Whites on the back foot, City struck again to put themselves in a commanding position through Lithuania youth international Simonas Stankevicius.

After the break, Bolton attempted to muster a response, and after Tom Walker had earlier hit the post, Carl Kennedy headed the midfielder’s corner in to pull the scores back to 2-1 midway through the second half.

With Bolton pushing for the equaliser, City were able to absorb their pressure well and in the closing stages hit them decisively on the counter – Dan Rowe heading in to make it 3-1 and make safe the three points.
