Simon Grayson’s Lilywhites are sure to provide some tough opposition for the Foxes, particularly at home, where they lost just twice throughout the entire 2013/14 season, which ended for Preston with a play-off defeat to Rotherham United.
The match will be the first meeting between the two sides since the Foxes were held to a 1-1 draw at Deepdate in a January 2011 Championship fixture. Former City man Iain Hume scored a stoppage time equaliser for the hosts that afternoon after Yakubu had put Leicester in front.
The tie with Preston is City’s fifth confirmed pre-season fixture, with Nigel Pearson’s men also set to travel to Ilkeston on Tuesday 22 July (7.30pm KO), Walsall on Wednesday 30 July (7.30pm KO) and MK Dons on Monday 4 August (7.45pm KO) before a home clash with German giants Werder Bremen on Saturday 9 August (3pm KO).
Ticket details for the fixture will be confirmed on in due course.
