Pearson: City Stars Settling Well

City manager Nigel Pearson is pleased at how well his two Argentine summer signings have settled at the Club in such a short space of time.

Leonardo Ulloa and Esteban Cambiasso have now both featured for the Foxes this season and each played a key part in the 1-0 victory over Stoke City at the weekend.
Inter Milan legend Cambiasso came on at half time to provide some stability in central midfield – a tactic which balanced out the game and allowed the Foxes to maintain possession to greater effect.
And Ulloa was a handful for the Mark Hughes’ back four all game, netting the winner on 65 minutes at the Britannia Stadium to make it three goals in four Barclays Premier League appearances for the frontman.
Acknowledging their impressive performances after the Stoke victory, Pearson said: “Ulloa has done well – I look at what he brings to the team.
“He gives us a different option – he’s a focal point for us in terms of he can bring other people into the game.
“I think what Leo does differently is he’s very good at pinning defenders so it’s not so much flick-ons, it’s more bringing other players into the game.
“The goals that he’s scored so far will suggest that he’s going to be very important to us in that regard and that in itself is a huge factor in being a success in any division, but certainly this one.
“I’m pleased that Esteban got 45 minutes today because that’s probably the right introduction for him.
“It’s certainly beneficial to him as for us that he’s got some pitch time – he’s certainly well respected by the players and staff.
"He has authority but on top of that he has humility which is very refreshing these days.
“It’s certainly nice for them to have somebody who speaks the same language but ultimately they are part of a very good group of people and they’ve both fit in exceptionally well.”
And Pearson noted it has been a productive return of five points from their opening four Barclays Premier League games given the quality of opposition they have faced.
“I think the players are coping very well with the situation so far,” Pearson continued. “I think we’ve played pretty well in all the games.
“We managed to secure our first win and that in itself just shows you how difficult it is at this level.
“The players understand that for us to be successful, it’s more about whether we can perform collectively to allow individuals to shine.
“We have some very talented players – what we’ve probably not got in abundance is the experience of playing in the top flight.”
