Players from Leicester’s City’s Academy mixed with some of Europe’s top young talent this weekend, making it to the final of the Under-17 Premier League International Tournament in London.

A gifted young Foxes side participated in the competition alongside representatives from Arsenal, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and Crystal Palace, in what turned out to be a highly beneficial experience.
The young Foxes played their first games in the competition on Friday, firstly against Spanish giants Real Madrid, who opened the scoring midway through the second half. But a strike from forward Admiral Muskwe secured a point for City two minutes from time.
Hosts Arsenal were next up for the Foxes later in the day, with Muskwe again on the score sheet. The striker earned a penalty and converted from the spot in a 3-0 win, with Harvey Barnes going on to net a brace for his side.
As a result, City won their group and advanced to the final on Saturday, coming up against a strong and talented Tottenham team.
Spurs burst out the blocks and went 2-0 up early on, but Leicester were not without their chances, and looked unlucky to be two down at the break with the opposition goalkeeper pulling off a string of impressive saves to deny the young Foxes.
Tottenham added another in the second half and extended their lead to 3-0 and, despite the result, City Academy director Jon Rudkin praised the competition and felt his side gave a good account of themselves against some of the best-known academies on the continent.
Jon told lcfc.com: “The opportunity that this tournament gave to our young players was to gain further experience on the field.
“To open the tournament up with a game against Real Madrid – the European champions – is a great match for our young players to be involved in.
“It’s a wonderful chance for them to gain experience against foreign clubs.
“It also brings a different edge to the game, knowing it’s on a tournament basis – it provides a something different and both our Under-16s and Under-17s that were involved will take a lot of footballing knowledge from the festival.”
