Leicester City Under-18s manager Trevor Peake hopes his side can end 2014 on a high when they host Southampton in the Barclays U18 Premier League on Saturday at Belvoir Drive.

The young Foxes have been in fine form in the 2014/15 campaign and will go into the clash in good spirits after advancing to the FA Youth Cup Fourth Round with a on Wednesday evening at King Power Stadium.
City have lost just three games all season and have won five out of their last six fixtures in all competitions. They sit six points behind table-topping Chelsea but have two games in hand on the London club.
Speaking to Foxes Player, Peake said: “We go into three or four match plans and hope that we can do well. It’s important that we bounce back because our last league game was a defeat – a 2-1 loss to Chelsea.
“We managed to then put a good run together of four or five games. It’s important to put another one together to get us back up and challenging where Chelsea are.
“Saturday is really important to us. We might have to rest a couple of players or juggle things round a little bit with the starting line-up. Every team we’re playing in this league is a challenge.
“We’ve got West Brom as our next fixture after Christmas at home. We’ve done really well at home so far this season and then we have the added bonus towards the end of January of playing Chesterfield who did very well the other night. Matt Goodwin and I went to watch the game – they knocked out a strong Aston Villa side.”
Peake also commended the Academy’s current production of talented players, including youngsters that have gone on to represent their countries at various levels already this season.
He added: “We do play all these top teams such as Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal who bring in players at the age of 16 who are already internationals.
“To bring them through our system with some of them being here since the age of nine, we can talk about Liam Moore around the first team within that.
“To get them within an hour and a half of Leicester – that range of where you can get boys from – is really terrific.
“Layton Ndukwu has played for England along with Darnell Johnson and Ben Chilwell. You would expect the top teams around the country to have their fair share of players within the England squad.
“It is testament to the whole system. The recruitment of Under-9s and Under-10s is so important for those lads early on, who we hope will have an affinity with the Club that keeps them here and can push them through to the first team.”
