Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez continued his Africa Cup of Nations campaign with Algeria after coming on as a substitute in the late 1-0 loss to Ghana on Friday in Mongomo.

Having already helped his country , Mahrez replaced Mehdi Lacen with 18 minutes to go and made an immediate impact, collecting a loose ball and bursting down the wing before firing over from a difficult angle.
In the dying minutes, the City wide man played in Sofiane Feghouli, but the Valencia attacker couldn’t apply a finish, and Ghana capitalised.
Asamoah Gyan beat Carl Medjani to the ball before rattling in past goalkeeper Rais M’Bohli to seal the three points for the Black Stars in injury time, leaving no time for Algeria to reply.
The result leaves Mahrez’s nation third in Group C, with Senegal set to face South Africa on Friday evening.
Algeria’s next Africa Cup of Nations test comes in the form of Senegal on Tuesday 27 January – be sure to check back into LCFC.com next week to keep up-to-date with Mahrez’s progress in the tournament.
