Leicester City Under-18s skipper Ben Chilwell says he is honoured to captain his side for their FA Youth Cup Sixth Round tie with Birmingham at King Power Stadium on Wednesday evening (7pm kick-off).

The England Under-19s international has been a key figure in Trevor Peake’s outfit this season, and his performances at left-back in that side have earned him a call-up to Steve Beaglehole’s Development Squad.
Chilwell explained that the young Foxes are in high spirits ahead of the clash against the Blues, and have good reason to be after a fine Barclays U18 Premier League campaign to date, coupled with their cup progression.
Speaking to Foxes Player, Chilwell said: “It’ll be a great honour to lead out my side on Wednesday night. Being captain has been a good privilege this season. I’m really excited to lead them out – hopefully we can get the win.
“Everyone’s really upbeat and looking forward to it. There’s a good tempo in training, and a lot of laughs, but we’ve been getting down to work. It’s important for us to work hard.
“It’s good that we’ve not conceded a goal in the competition. Defensively we’re solid, we’re just struggling with goals at the moment, so we’ve been working on that in training by trying to create more chances for the attackers.
“It was really important to get the win on Saturday because we’ve been struggling with our league form recently. It was good to get that so the confidence was nice and high going into the game on Wednesday.
“Obviously all our friends and family will be there, so it’ll be nice to get a good performance in in front of them. We’re all looking forward to the occasion. Hopefully we can all do well for our friends and family, but also the staff and ourselves as players as well.”
Chilwell and his side’s achievements haven’t gone unnoticed amongst the Club’s first-teamers, with Academy graduates and urging the youngsters to make history by becoming only the second ever City side to make it to the semi-finals of the competition.
Proud to be supported by two internationally-capped players, Chilwell added: “It’s really good to see Kingy and Jeff supporting us. We’ve enjoyed it so far, so seeing the first-teamers backing us is really important.
“Hopefully we can do well for them as well. They’re Academy graduates, so they know what it’s like at this age, so it was really good to hear from them.”
