Pearson: Be At Our Best

Nigel Pearson says his side have the ability to cause Manchester City problems on Wednesday evening, but must be at their best if they are to return to Leicester with a positive result.

The Foxes travel to the Etihad Stadium in the search of a first Barclays Premier League win since the 1-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday 10 January.
Meanwhile, the Citizens have won twice in their last nine games in all competitions, but boast a star-studded line-up that has scored 10 goals in their last three league fixtures.
Wary of the threat of Manuel Pellegrini’s outfit, Pearson said: “They’ve got a very talented squad, let’s put it like that. There’s always going to be scrutiny on the big sides.
“People have told me that they’re in a bit of a sticky spell but a sticky spell for them isn’t a sticky spell for us. Success is relative.
“They have two players for each position and they have quality there. Whichever side they decided to put up against us will have quality in it.
“I would also like to think that they would be aware that we have some dangerous players. We have to show on the day not just that we’re a capable side, but we’re a side that’s not going to go anywhere and lie down. That’s something that’s important to me and the players.
“On their day they’re an outstanding side. It’s always interesting to see how perceptions change. The pressure that they’re under is similar to what we were under last year in the sense that there is an expectation to win trophies.”
The Foxes have visited Manchester City on three separate occasions in the Premier League and have beaten the Citizens in all three of those fixtures.
Knowing positive result is achievable if his side show their capabilities, Pearson added: “A win would keep the morale high, I’m sure. Before a ball is kicked in the season, most people would look at fixtures like this as a bonus game.
“We can’t have too many bonus games now here on in because we don’t have enough points.
“All I can do is concentrate very much on ourselves. We’ve got to be at our best and us at our best will hopefully cause them some problems.
“It’s an important game for us. I want us to perform well again. We need to start picking up some scrappy results as well as keep playing well.”
