King Power continued to prosper in the sporting arena on Sunday, as teams captained by Leicester City Board members emerged victorious from one of the world’s most prestigious polo tournaments.

Competing in the 2015 Cartier Queen’s Cup Finals at the Guards Polo Club, Windsor Great Park, King Power teams dominated in front of an audience of royals and celebrities to take home the weekend’s major prizes.
With Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha looking on, Vice Chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha was presented with the Cartier Queen’s Cup by Her Majesty the Queen following his King Power Foxes’ thrilling 11-10 extra-time victory over Dubai.
That followed a victory for Top’s brother, Executive Director Apichet, and his King Power team in the subsidiary Cartier Trophy competition earlier in the day. ‘Tal’s’ team were also 11-10 victors in extra time, this time over Salkeld.
Finals day, traditionally attended by the Queen since 1960, came at the end of a three-week tournament, which included 12 teams and some of the world’s elite players.
The victory for Top’s side secured a first major title for King Power Foxes, though the team did include Queen’s Cup-winning calibre in the shape of two-time winner Facundo Pieres and brother Gonzalo Jr., both from Argentina, along with Englishman Hugo Lewis.
Facundo, one of the world’s best players with an elite 10-goal handicap, paid tribute to King Power’s approach to establishing itself as a serious force in ‘the sport of kings’.
“King Power's organisation has made a big effort,” he told Pololine.com. “They bought 50 horses in the last two years with the aim to be one of the best organisations in the world.”
“This is the second year I have played with this organisation,” added Gonzalo. “We already have a title and we played the final of the Gold Cup last year as well. They deserve this, and a lot more.”
Everyone at Leicester City would like to offer our congratulations to Khun Vichai, Khun Top and Khun Tal on an outstanding sporting achievement for the King Power Group.
