Leicester City goalkeeper Ben Hamer has today (Tuesday) joined Bristol City on a season-long loan, subject to Football League approval.

The 27-year-old joins a Bristol City squad with momentum following their recent promotion from League 1. He will be available for selection in all competitions during the 2015/16 campaign, though Leicester will retain the option to recall him immediately.

After joining Leicester on a free transfer from Charlton Athletic last summer, Hamer made 10 appearances during his debut season for the Foxes, including eight in the Barclays Premier League.

He kept a clean sheet on his debut in a 1-0 win at Stoke City early in the season, before securing further shutouts in vital victories over Hull City and Aston Villa around the turn of the year.

He joins a Robins squad that made its Championship return with a 2-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Cotterill’s side travel to Luton Town in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night, before hosting Brentford in the Championship on Saturday.
