After Saturday’s 3-2 Barclays Premier League win at West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton says Jamie Vardy’s unique style of play has paid dividends this term.

Vardy took his 2015/16 goalscoring tally to 11 goals in 11 Premier League games after netting the Foxes’ third goal at the Hawthorns.

The former Fleetwood Town man’s strike also saw him become only the third ever player to score in eight consecutive Premier League games alongside Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Daniel Sturridge.

Having a player of that calibre in City’s ranks allows Claudio Ranieri’s outfit to press from the front – something that opposition defenders hate, according to Albrighton.

“He’s (Jamie Vardy) flying,” Albrighton told Foxes Player HD. “He’s on absolute fire at the minute. There’s no stopping him. He’s in the form of his life and if he keeps banging them in for us then we’re delighted.

“Teams don’t like being pressed. We’ll tell you that if teams come to us and bring a player like Jamie Vardy, our defence won’t like that one bit.

“It’s difficult to defend against, which can only help us. If we keep working hard and doing the right things then we’ll go far.”

City now occupy third position in the Premier League table and could move level on points with top-of-the-league Manchester City with a victory over Watford at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Keeping his feet firmly on the ground, Albrighton added: “We can’t get carried away. I know someone said that it took us until April to get to this points tally last season, so we’re doing something right and long may it continue.”
