Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been named the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month for October.
The in-form Foxes forward has been in irresistible form so far this term and leads the top flight scoring charts with a remarkable haul of 12 goals in 12 games.
He collects the October award after scoring in each of City’s four games in the month, hitting five goals in total and extending his scoring streak to eight consecutive matches.
Having kicked off November with another goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Watford, Vardy now has Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record of scoring in 10 consecutive games in his sights, ahead of City’s trip to Newcastle United on 21 November.
A Leicester player takes the Player of the Month honours at the third time of asking this season, following Vardy’s nomination in September and Riyad Mahrez’s in August.
Vardy topped the October vote ahead of Arsenal duo Mesut Özil and Olivier Giroud, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Watford’s Odion Ighalo and Stoke City’s Jack Butland.
Meanwhile, City boss Claudio Ranieri was edged out in the race for the Manager of the Month award by Arsenal’s Arsène Wenger.
City’s record of three wins and a draw from October had earned our Italian manager a place on the shortlist alongside Wenger and Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini.
But it was the Gunners’ boss that took the honours – Arsenal having won all four of their Premier League outings in the month.
