Sunday saw members of the Blue Army take to Leicester’s Victoria Park to raise funds for the LCFC Foxes Foundation and When You Wish Upon A Star.

For the second year running, the LCFC Foxes Foundation’s Santa Fun Run brought together people from across the county to complete a 2.5km or 5km run or walk, raising over £2,000 in the process.

Leicester City legends Steve Walsh, Ali Mauchlen and Muzzy Izzet and Club Ambassador Alan ‘The Birch’ Birchenall joined in proceedings at Leicester’s Victoria Park, urging on Foxes fans of all ages to break through the pain barrier for a great cause.

All funds raised will go directly to the LCFC Foxes Foundation's partner charities for the 2015/16 season and adopted charity 'When You Wish Upon A Star' – a charity that grants special wishes for children living with life-threatening illnesses across the UK.

Reflecting on the Santa Fun Run, Birch said: “It was a really good turn out, but we expect nothing less from the Club’s fans – they’re simply brilliant. We raised a lot of money for charity just before the heavens opened up!

“It was a good morning. Everybody had a good run or walk and some wobbled over the line! There was even a lady on crutches that managed to complete her walk, so all credit to her!

“The weather didn’t dampen the spirits. People were in a really Christmassy mood. Everybody, from kids, adults and even festive dogs had a terrific morning. It was fabulous.

“The work that the LCFC Foxes Foundation does goes without saying. It’s been brilliant ever since it was first set up. What this Club does for local charities and the community is simply fantastic.”
