Leicester City midfielder Dean Hammond’s loan spell with League 1 side Sheffield United has been extended until the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

A vastly experienced central midfielder, Hammond has played a total of 16 times for the Blades since his loan began back in October last year to help the Yorkshire side to seventh place in the table – three points off the play-off spots.

Hammond was a key member of the Foxes squad that won promotion from the Championship in 2013/14 and went on to make a significant contribution in last season’s Barclays Premier League survival.

Hammond, 32, has featured once for the Foxes so far this term, captaining the side to a 4-1 victory at Bury in the Capital One Cup Second Round.

Next up for Hammond and the Blades is a trip to Colchester United on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder has played 45 times for the Foxes since joining the Club from Southampton in the summer of 2013.
