Young Leicester City winger Jack Barmby has joined current Major League Soccer champions Portland Timbers on loan until the end of May.

Barmby, 21, has previously enjoyed loan spells in the Football League at Rotherham United and Notts County and has played a pivotal role for the Club’s Development Squad in recent seasons.

The England youth international possesses pace and skill and will add a significant threat to a Portland outfit looking to defend their MLS title, linking up with former Aston Villa defender Liam Ridgewell in the process.

Timbers kicked-off their 2016 campaign with a 2-1 win over Columbus Crew at Providence Park on Sunday. They travel to San Jose Earthquakes next Sunday in a game Barmby could feature in if registered in time.

Jack’s loan spell will run up to the end of the English football season, making him potentially available for the Timbers’ next 11 fixtures.
