Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri was thrilled with the news that long-serving midfielder Andy King committed his future to the Club with a new four-year deal.

King has made more than 330 appearances for the Foxes since his debut in 2007 and is the Club’s all-time top scoring midfielder with 59 goals, with a strong influence on and off the pitch.

The 27-year-old joins Wes Morgan and Ben Chilwell in signing new deals with the Foxes in recent weeks and the manager admitted that it was a huge boost for him ahead of the new season.

After returning from Euro 2016 action with Wales, King has looked sharp in pre-season training out in Los Angeles as he looks to build upon a fantastic 2015/16 campaign, which saw the Foxes lift the Premier League title – to go with League 1 and Championship winners' medals for the Welshman.

Talking about his midfielder’s deal he said: “It’s important. It’s fantastic for him. He’s made all the steps with Leicester and won the title. It’s amazing and he’s a good example for everybody.

“I’m very happy because he’s a fantastic lad who trains and plays very well. I’m very pleased.

“He’s very good with and without the ball. Without the ball he’s very dangerous. He can score goals too. He has good vision, he’s strong and has good stamina. For me, he’s very important for the team.”
