Development Squad midfielder Michael Cain has joined League 2 side Blackpool on a season-long loan deal. 

The 21-year-old, who impressed during loan spells with Walsall and Mansfield over the previous two campaigns, will join Gary Bowyer’s side ahead of their season opener at home to Exeter City this Saturday afternoon.

A creative and energetic figure in midfield with an exceptional ability from set plays, Cain has been a key player for Steve Beaglehole’s Development Squad. 

After winning the Club’s 2012/13 Academy Player of the Year Award, Cain took in a short loan spell with Mansfield in League 2 the following campaign that saw him make his Football League debut. 

His first outing for Leicester City soon followed in a League Cup clash at King Power Stadium against Shrewsbury Town in 2014/15, before a 38-game loan period in League 1 with Walsall that won him plenty of admirers.
