- Midfielder Harvey Barnes bagged a brace in the pre-season victory
- The Foxes begin their Premier League 2 campaign against Manchester United on Monday 15 August
A brace from midfielder Harvey Barnes helped Leicester City’s Development Squad return to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Rosenborg on Wednesday.
Steve Beaglehole’s outfit suffered their first defeat of pre season at the hands of Chesterfield on Tuesday evening, but with a change in personnel, the Foxes were much improved against their Norwegian opponents.
Despite going 1-0 down, City eventually ran out 3-2 winners, with Barnes scoring two excellent goals at Belvoir Drive.
Reflecting on the game, Beaglehole said: “Some of the lads that hadn’t had much game time during the tournament out in France got a good run out against Rosenborg, and it was a good performance.
“While we didn’t defend too well for the two goals that we gave away, and went 1-0 down. But we scored a brilliant free kick and managed to turn the game around.
“Harvey Barnes scored two brilliant goals, so it was a good result for us and good preparation for the new season, which starts against Manchester United the week after next.”
