After the Development Squad were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Sunderland on Monday evening, manager Steve Beaglehole spoke highly of the chances his side created at King Power Stadium.

The Foxes went ahead early on in their second Premier League 2 fixture of the 2016/17 campaign through Bartosz Kapustka, before George Honeyman levelled from the spot for Sunderland to make it 1-1.

Admiral Muskwe restored City’s lead with a fine header just after the break, but another goal from Honeyman and Ethan Robson’s stunning 87th-minute free kick secured a 3-2 Premier League 2 win for the visitors.

“We’re gutted because we’ve played two games and earned no points,” Beaglehole told LCFC TV. “From the off, we played really well and we were in total control. We scored a great goal to open the scoring but conceded straight away through a penalty.

“That knocked us back a bit, but we went in at half-time at 1-1. We knew we’d get more chances, and took one of them through young Admiral Muskwe.

“We looked on top, but conceded again and that made it 2-2. We didn’t look like we were going to concede again, but they scored a beautiful free kick to win it.

“We don’t seem to be getting the rub of the green, because if you look at the amount of chances created and how many shots on goal we had, we were the better side and looked dangerous.”

City’s attentions immediately turn to Thursday’s behind-closed-doors Premier League 2 clash with Everton at Belvoir Drive.

Beaglehole added: “If we can be more ruthless in front of goal and be resilient in and around our own box, we will start winning some games.

“We need to keep a clean sheet against Everton and be more attentive when they’re on the ball if we’re wanting to get a positive result.”
