Nigel Pearson is keen for his squad to keep their nerve going into their final two npower Championship games after a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace kept them in with a chance of making the play-offs.

The Foxes came from behind twice through goals from Andy King and Chris Wood to secure the point, which leaves them just one adrift of sixth placed Bolton.

A King Power Stadium clash with Watford now looms on Friday night, and the manager wants his side to perform with the same intensity that almost saw them snatch a win at Selhurst Park.

He said afterwards: “I think at any other time we’d be talking about this as a very good point, but we’ve got to win our last two games now.

“It’s not games like this that have put us in the situation that we’re in, it’s the performances against Derby and Barnsley. But, as I’ve already said, what we have to do is focus on what we can influence and that is the last two games.

“My focus, and I’ve said it to the players, is the two games left. We’ve got to make sure we win them both and if we show the sort of qualities that we’ve shown today then we’ve got a great chance.

“We’ve got to keep our nerve. It’s okay everybody getting excited about the next games, and I’m really looking forward to Watford, but you’ve got to be able to play these games with an intensity and of late I’m pleased with our performances.

“We’re unlucky not to have picked up more points than we have.”

And on a difficult afternoon in windy conditions against Ian Holloway’s Eagles, the boss felt his side may have deserved the victory.

He added: “Unfortunately we conceded from a set play [to go 1-0 down] but I think the players showed a lot of quality on what was quite a difficult pitch and I thought we were by far the better side.

“We were very unlucky with the second Palace goal in terms of ricochets, but you have to defend against a side like Palace who are a bit nervy and playing direct football.

“I think the team has played very well, we’ve been slightly unfortunate to concede the two goals and we’ve created an awful lot of great situations, so there are a lot of positives. We will take these forward and we’ve got a really good chance.”
