The 32-year-old ‘keeper has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal with the Foxes and will link up with his new team-mates for the first time in Hong Kong this week.

Jakupović becomes Leicester City’s third signing of the summer transfer window, after the additions of his former Hull City team-mate Harry Maguire and midfielder Vicente Iborra from Sevilla.

The experienced shot-stopper has played for seven professional football clubs across four different countries during his career and was one of Hull’s top performers last season.

An elated Eldin Jakupovic talks to LCFC TV.

Jakupović told LCFC TV: “I’m very happy and excited that the deal is finally done. I’m very excited to be a part of something special here and I can’t wait for the first game.

“I knew from the beginning that it will be difficult for myself because Kasper [Schmeichel] is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

“I’m going to fight and I’m here to push. A healthy competition is always good and that’s only a positive thing. For sure, I’ll wait for my chance but I am here and I’m very excited.”

Born in Bosnia, Jakupović’s football career began in Switzerland with Grasshopper Club Zurich in 2004, before his impressive displays saw him move to Swiss side FC Thun and then Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia.

He was loaned back to Grasshoppers during his spell in Russia and again impressed with his contributions to the team – not least a 94th minute equaliser against BSC Young Boys in one of his first appearances.

Following further spells in the Greek Super League with Olympiakos Volou and Aris, Jakupović signed for Hull City at the start of the 2012/13 campaign. His education in English football continued with a loan spell at Leyton Orient in 2014, but after being recalled by Hull City, Jakupović quickly went on to establish himself as a key figure in the team.

The 6ft 3ins goalkeeper made a total of 55 appearances for Hull City, including 22 in last season’s Premier League campaign. His five clean sheets included a number of outstanding individual performances against the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Swansea and Watford, while a last gasp penalty save from Dušan Tadic away to Southampton crowned another Man-Of-The-Match display towards the end of last season.
