Following a 1-1 draw in normal time, a 7-6 shootout win over West Bromwich Albion saw the Foxes set up a tie with Liverpool.

Maguire played 45 minutes at the Hong Kong Stadium and with a final to contest on Saturday, the centre back spoke highly of his side’s performance against the Baggies.

“Obviously to get the first 45 minutes under my belt is always pleasing,” said Maguire.

It’s always nice to put the strip on and then get out on the pitch and do what we do best – play football matches.

“Pre-season is all about getting games and getting ready but it’s always good to be in a competitive tournament and to progress to the final is better than losing.

“We’re all pleased in there and hopefully we’ve come out with no injuries. I don’t think there has been any so hopefully we’re fresh for Saturday and we can look forward to the next game.”

After two-and-a-half weeks of pre-season training, Maguire was thrilled to make his first appearance in Leicester blue.

The Foxes advanced to the Premier League Asia Trophy Final with a shootout win over West Brom.

He added: “You work hard, you do double and sometimes triple sessions and it’s tough the first few weeks.

“It’s always nice to put the strip on and then get out on the pitch and do what we do best – play football matches.

“The gaffer has been brilliant with me since I joined and the players have welcomed me straight in.

“I’ve settled really well. This pre-season we’re really looking forward to it and we can’t wait for it all to start.”
