The Leicester City Under-18s wrapped up their pre-season with a brilliant 4-2 victory over Steven Gerrard’s Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

- Tom Fielding (2), Tyrese Shade and Morgan Brown scored in a 4-2 success over Liverpool
- Leicester City's Academy side were dominant for long periods against Steven Gerrard's men
- The young Foxes open the PL2 U18 season away at Southampton on Saturday afternoon

Midfielder Tom Fielding registered a brace for the young Foxes while Tyrese Shade and Morgan Brown also found the net to end their summer on a high note.

City open the Premier League 2 U18 season with a maiden clash against Southampton at their Staplewood training facility on Saturday (12pm kick-off).

Trevor Peake’s side have embarked on a far-reaching pre-season campaign over the past two months, including a trip to Prague for the Generali Cee Cup, where they reached the latter ‘ranking’ stages.

During a breathless opening 45 minutes in Liverpool, Leicester raced into a two-goal lead despite later strikes from Rhian Brewster and Adam Lewis narrowing the scores for the hosts.

Due to the nature of the regional divisions, City may not face the Reds next season, meaning it was a rare opportunity to test themselves against one of the favourites for the PL2 U18 crown.

Peake's men nonetheless adapted well to testing circumstances in the North West to emerge with a hugely impressive victory on the eve of the new campaign.
