Harry Maguire says Leicester City were happy to come away from Vitality Stadium with a goalless draw after absorbing plenty of Bournemouth pressure in the first half on Saturday.

- Leicester City’s point against Bournemouth on Saturday proved to be a positive one, says Harry Maguire
- The Foxes drew 0-0 at Vitality Stadium and had to defend resolutely in the first half
- Maguire felt his side could have taken all three points from the game after creating several chances late on

The hosts burst out of the blocks and hit the crossbar on three minutes through Jermain Defoe, while Josh King was also lively on the south coast in the early stages.

A much-improved performance followed after the break from City, who went closest to breaking the deadlock through Shinji Okazaki, but the striker couldn’t hit the target.

Reflecting on a testing afternoon, Maguire told LCFC TV: “In the end, maybe it was a good point. It was a resolute performance, but we weren’t at our best and we know that.

“When you’re not at your best, you need to get results and we’ve come away with a point. Maybe in the end we could have nicked it if we were a bit more clinical.

“Shinji [Okazaki] has probably had the best chance in the second half. The first half wasn’t good enough and we knew that at half-time.

“We were lucky to go in [at half-time] at 0-0 and in the second half we were a lot more solid. We were back to ourselves and we had a lot more opportunities to hit them on the counter attack.

“A point is a good point away from home in the Premier League.”

Maguire felt City could have snatched a win given their opportunities in the second half, but says his side were pleased to walk away with another point on the board.

Maguire added: “We know they play at a high tempo and it’s a hard place to come. Not many people will come here and take maximum points off them.

“They’re a good side and they showed that in the first half especially. To be fair, we didn’t start well enough, with or without the ball.

“We were pressing and getting picked off and we were getting frustrated at times. At half-time, the gaffer had a big team talk with us and in the second half we upped our game.”

“I felt in the last 20 minutes, when Riyad [Mahrez] came on, he started causing them problems. We were a team in the ascendency and the team that would maybe nick it on the counter attack.

“We had a number of good chances and maybe we weren’t as clinical as we could have been. Overall in the game, we’ll walk away and be happy with the point.”
