The Foxes fell behind at a foggy Leigh Sports Village following Callum Gribbin’s fifth-minute effort, but were much improved after the break.
Knight, with a beautiful flick, struck on 77 minutes to help City extend their unbeaten run to 16 games and was understandably delighted at the final whistle.
“We didn’t have the best of starts in the first half,” Knight told LCFC TV. “We weren’t at it and we weren’t doing what we’re good at – pressing and the ball in behind. No one was really at it.
“In the second half, we were resilient, we worked hard and I thought we did well.
“We’ve got a good bunch of lads in there. Everyone works hard for each other, so that’s decent.
“Everyone’s buzzing – it’s a good record to have (16 games unbeaten) and we want to push on and go unbeaten into the New Year.”
Knight bagged his fifth goal of the season against the Red Devils, following up Thursday’s first-half strike against Legia Warsaw in the Premier League International Cup.
Reflecting on his effort, he added: “I was going to run to the back post, but I saw George [Thomas] and I saw the space, so I ran in. It’s always nice to score.”
