Leicester City manager Claude Puel felt his team were unfortunate to come out on the losing side after a tough 2-1 Premier League loss to in-form Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.

- Leicester City beaten 2-1 by Burnley in the Premier League at Turf Moor
- Chris Wood and Kevin Long gave the home side a 2-0 lead inside 10 minutes
- Jamie Vardy’s 20th goal of the season made it 2-1 in the second half
- Manager Claude Puel felt his team created enough chances to score more than once

The Foxes faced an uphill battle from the early stages against the Clarets, who raced into a two-goal lead inside 10 minutes through Chris Wood and Kevin Long.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who later went off injured, did well did save Wood’s first effort but the former City striker finished the rebound well, while Long headed in from a corner to put City firmly on the back foot.

They responded well though, and created by far the better chances as the game wore on – finally getting their reward for a dominant second half when Jamie Vardy netted his 20th of the season with an emphatic finish to make it 2-1.

Chance kept coming, but it just wasn’t to be for the Foxes, who now trail seventh-placed Burnley by nine points in the league table.

Afterwards, the manager reflected: “Of course I was impressed because there was good concentration before the game and good duels at the beginning and it was close with the other team but to concede two goals quickly it was difficult to accept.

"After I think, like in the first half we had a lot of chances also and we came back into the game early before the break. It was important to come back in the second half with quality and we improved in our play.

“We have had a lot of chances and it is a big disappointment of course because I think we deserved another result. It was not a fair result.

"I would like to say congratulations to Sean [Dyche] and his club because they showed consistency all season with strong quality and solidity.

“Perhaps today we deserved another result. Today it was good to find my team again with quality and good play, with a lot of chances. It was for me another game than the last one. It will be important to keep a positive attitude for the next game and try to finish as high as possible in the table for the fans, the Club and the chairman.

“We will have a strong game in the next game against Southampton. It will be very important, very crucial for us. They deserved perhaps another result against Chelsea and these two sides will play a crucial game.”
