The West Midlands side, who won the Sky Bet Championship title last season, visit King Power Stadium to tackle Claude Puel’s City in the Premier League on Saturday (3pm BST kick-off).

After a 2-2 draw with Everton, the newly-promoted outfit have already displayed their top flight credentials and Brassington expects another strong showing – particularly from Neves.

He told LCFC TV’s Pre-Match Pint programme: “Wolves have made a number of signings but they’ve also got the star players from last season.

“Players like Rúben Neves and Diogo Jota, so there is some real quality in the Wolves squad.

If they want to finish in the top half, games against Everton and Leicester are a good barometer for them to see if they have got what it takes.

“Rúben is only 21, he has so much quality and he’s only going to get better. He’s got great vision, he’s a fantastic passer of the ball, and his free-kicks are lethal.”

On the topic of the aspirations Wolves have for the new season, a talking point for many this summer, Brassington provided some insight into what Espírito Santo’s side can achieve.

He added: “They’ll be looking, at the very least, to survive but they hope for mid-table, finishing around the same place as teams like Everton and Leicester.

Nuno Espírito Santo's Wolves could cause problems for sides this season.

“If they want to finish in the top half, games against Everton and Leicester are a good barometer for them to see if they have got what it takes.

“But this is going to be another tough test for Wolves, Leicester are a good side, they’ve still got some of the players who won the Premier League a few years ago.

“They are their closest rivals now in the Premier League and they will need to watch out for the likes of Jamie Vardy and Leicester have a good defence with the likes of Harry Maguire.”
